AI, innovation and inspiration: discover Fontys during DDW

Do you feel like going to the DDW this year? Be surprised by the cool projects that Fontys students and staff have contributed to!

DDW is Northern Europe's largest design event, presenting work and concepts by over 2,000 designers to more than 350,000 visitors from home and abroad. During a visit to DDW, you will see and experience the design of the future and the future of design. Besides the great participations of Fontys students and staff, get inspired by all the other exhibitions, lectures, award ceremonies, network meetings, debates and festivities spread over some 100 locations throughout the city.

The event covers every conceivable discipline and aspect of design, but the emphasis is always on experimentation, innovation and collaboration. DDW shows how young and established designers from the Netherlands and the world are shaping a positive future.

Also from Fontys ICT and Mindlabs, we would like to take you through some brand new, stimulating experiences: meet digital people in healthcare, education and media, for example. Can you still tell the difference between real and virtual? How does it feel to get advice from an AI nurse, lessons from a virtual coach, or hear news from a synthetic presenter?

Human Zoo is an interactive installation about how AI, digital twins and motion tracking are changing our identity. Visitors meet and interact with virtual creatures, experiencing the boundary between physical and digital. The project by the Fontys Research Group of Interaction Design invites reflection on humanity, authenticity and our relationship with technology in 2025. Location: KEVN, Strijp-T

This interactive multimedia experience explores the boundary between human and virtual connection. Visitors will meet AI-driven digital humans in realistic environments such as healthcare, education and media and discover how virtual humans challenge our ideas about trust, empathy and interaction. Location: Next Nature Museum, Evoluon

Be surprised, challenged and maybe even a little confused. Our exhibitions ask sharp questions about trust, empathy and influence in a world where digital humans are becoming more real. What do we gain, and what do we lose when the line between humans and machines blurs?
