Fontys for Society Event 2026

The Fontys for Society event connects and entertains, makes an impact, develops and educates. From one another, with one another. We look forward to seeing you at the Rachelsmolen campus for the third edition of the Fontys for Society event on Thursday 10 September 2026. This time with a completely revamped concept!

This is the annual occasion when students, staff, alumni and industry partners come together to demonstrate how Fontys contributes to a sustainable, vibrant and inclusive society. This event is all about meeting, learning and connecting, with showcases of education and research that have a social impact. Through inspiring stories and concrete examples, we build a strong community and encourage new collaborations. Expect inspiring projects and initiatives, short presentations, surprising speakers, awards, and plenty of opportunity to meet one another. All in an informal festival atmosphere with outdoor pavilions, interactive experiences, food and entertainment.

This year, there will be Inspiration Talks instead of workshops. These are talks lasting up to half an hour that tie in with the central theme of resilience, and serve as a source of inspiration on current issues that concern students and staff. The talks will be explored from various perspectives by Erdinç Saçan, Laura Bas, Zeynep Dag and Arjen Banach. They will discuss the impact of digital behaviour on wellbeing and daily life, how young people are preparing for the future, and coping with change, drawing on personal experiences relating to opportunities, inclusion and making the most of talent.

Meet and discover
Attendees who do not wish to take part in the Inspiration Talks are free to stroll around the campus or perhaps take a tour of the fifteen projects that form part of the Fontys for Society exhibition. “In this exhibition, students, lecturers, researchers and staff present projects that contribute to addressing social issues.”

During the event, visitors can vote for the project they consider to have the greatest impact in terms of contributing to society. A jury will do exactly the same. Together, these results will determine the winners of the Fontys for Society Awards, which will be presented later in the day.
