Your API is secured with tokens from Entra ID (or another IDP) and you don’t want to disable that authentication in integration tests. So how do you test your endpoints and your role-based access control (RBAC) in a way that remains close to production, without compromising the integrity of your API? This talk demonstrates how to run integration tests securely with mandatory authentication and how to handle a scenario where forged tokens still appear valid to your application, including measures to protect your API against this.

It’s a pattern that recurs every few years; a new technology emerges that will change the world. It will cost jobs. It will cause art forms to disappear. It will make the millennium bug pale in comparison. And then… it turns out to be not so bad after all. In this talk, I’ll take you through similar events from the past – naturally with a pinch of salt; I’m no historian – and share how AI (specifically Claude Code) influences my daily life as a developer at Two Fifty. Why this is usually great fun, why it occasionally turns into a bit of a tearjerker, and why I think this will remain the case for the foreseeable future.
