A look back at Night of the Nerds in our InnovationLab

Thursday June 3th, the Night of the Nerds took place at the Fontys InnovationLab. During this inspiring event, around 500 school pupils were introduced to the diverse world of ICT and discovered just how broad, creative and socially relevant this field is.

Around 60 students presented projects they had been working on over the past six months. Visitors were not only able to watch, but above all to experience and participate themselves. From an AI Fortune Teller and Body Tetris to an AR game set above a virtual city, an interactive Pac-Man game and an installation exploring privacy risks surrounding facial data.

Privacy was also taken into account during the event: visitors who did not want to be recognisable in photos could disguise themselves with props. This resulted in both safe and creative images.

Night of the Nerds demonstrated how ICT revolves around technology, imagination, interaction and awareness. For many students, it was an accessible and energetic introduction to the world of ICT.
