Master's students receive grants within SPARC Incubator

Using AI to identify the right plants and laser away weeds. That, in a nutshell, is what Synthgen, the company founded by master's student Simeon Dimov, does. Not only is he conquering the agricultural sector with this innovation, he has also secured a grant. "Now we can really grow."

Bulgarian Simeon Dimov came to the Netherlands specifically to study ICT. At Fontys, he met fellow student Martin Tomov, with whom he set up the company Synthgen. The company specialises in developing synthetic data.

From master's degree to business

The start-up was launched at Fontys a few months after both students started their master's degree in Applied IT. As part of the master's programme, Simeon and Martin received support from the SPARC Incubator programme. "Fontys helps us with entrepreneurship, innovation and technology."

Fontys ICT gives students the opportunity to graduate in their own start-up. This has led to successful start-ups and education in a meaningful context. However, Fontys ICT's ambitions go further.
