Signing of letter of intent for Southern Netherlands Education Network

Frens Vonken signed the agreement on behalf of Fontys ICT. Within this new network, subject support centres will be set up for various technical subjects. While most subject support centres are run by universities, Fontys ICT will take responsibility for the subject support centre for Computer Science. We are setting up subject support centres for secondary school subjects for which there are strong links within our region with teacher training programmes and groundbreaking research. In this way, we are building bridges between secondary education and higher education," says Hjalmar Mulders, programme leader for subject support centres.

The subject support centre for Computer Science is coordinated by Fontys ICT, with strong links to the Faculty of Mathematics & Computer Science (TU/e) and the Faculty of FSE (UM). Important partners such as IPN (Informatica Platform Nederland), NVON, the Eindhoven School of Education teacher training programme, TU/e teacher training programme and Fontys Education are also affiliated.

This is a significant step forward in regional cooperation between educational institutions, with the aim of strengthening the quality and continuity of technical education in the southern Netherlands.
