Fontys ICT graduate Mariëtte Edel (’18): proud owner of two businesses alongside her work in UX

Mariëtte has had a keen interest in technology and design since she was a child. In 2018, she graduated cum laude from Fontys ICT with a degree in ICT and Media Design. After working for several years as a UX designer and Product Owner at KRO-NCRV, she joined PAQT, where she now fulfils the roles of Product Owner and Scrum Master – roles in which her passion for technology and UX come together perfectly.

She is also the proud owner of two businesses: Bijzonder-Cadeau.nl and Leuke-Kerstballen.nl. It may not quite be the season for Christmas baubles just yet, but you can always turn to her for bespoke and personalised gifts. Her love for creativity, e-commerce and unique products comes to life in her businesses.

On her website, bijzonder-cadeau.nl (in Dutch), you’ll find handmade drawings created without the help of AI. You can have a line drawing made from a photo (or of your house!), have a marathon finish portrait printed as a poster, have a birth poster made with a star sign, and much more… and are you looking for a personalised baby gift in the form of a night light or music box? Mariëtte can arrange that for you too!

At festivals, markets and PR events, Mariëtte now also draws live portraits of guests. The illustrations are created on the spot and finished and delivered the very same day, as a personal memento of the event.

Over the past six months, she has had the opportunity to illustrate live at weddings on two occasions. Guests then go home with a physical A6-sized illustration in watercolour style, entirely tailored to the event in question. The drawing can include, for example, names, the wedding date, or the name of the celebration. A personal and creative addition to a special day!

The feedback was so positive that bookings are now open for 2026.
